Veyo Pies

Veyo · Listed in the 435 Alliance — a Southern Utah register of vetted, locally owned businesses.

The pie-making tradition in Veyo goes back roughly thirty years, to when Evelyn Daniels started baking pies at the Veyo Merc, the general store she ran with her husband Larry, as a way to draw customers off the road. The tradition passed through several keepers — including renowned pie maker Evalyn Yaw and then Joan Jensen and Laurel Taylor — before Devaney Lomenick, who trained with Yaw for fourteen years, took over management in 2006. She and her husband Curtis, now joined by their children Colten, J.D., and Lauren, opened the stand-alone Veyo Pies shop at 24 South Main Street in June 2009. Salt Lake Magazine named it Best Pies in Utah in 2008. The menu runs fruit pies (apple, cherry, berry), cream pies (banana, coconut, chocolate), specialty pies including the Veyo Volcano and cheesecake, pot pies, and lunch specials — plus gluten-free and sugar-free options. Custom and large orders accepted with advance notice. Open seven days a week. In a town too small for most maps, Veyo Pies is the reason people stop.
