Sidewinder runs the low desert between the Sheep Bridge JEM trailhead and the Guacamole Mesa approach, four miles of intermediate singletrack that twists through low washes and sage flats. It is the connector trail riders use to link the Hurricane Cliffs system with Guacamole without driving between trailheads, and it stands on its own as a relaxed XC ride for anyone wanting flow without the cliff-edge exposure of JEM.

A quieter trail in a busy network

The Hurricane Cliffs trailheads see steady traffic in shoulder season — JEM shuttles loading and unloading, Guacamole's parking filling by midday on weekends. Sidewinder runs between them with a fraction of the riders. The trail's low desert routing keeps the views modest by 435 standards, but the riding is consistently rideable, the surface holds well, and the connector function makes it useful for stitched loops.

How locals use it

Sidewinder gets ridden as a JEM warm-up, as a Guacamole cool-down, or as the bridge between the two on a network day. Strong riders who shuttle JEM in the morning sometimes pedal Sidewinder back to Guacamole in the afternoon for a second slickrock loop without driving. The trail is also a viable evening ride for riders staying in Hurricane who want a short after-work spin without driving up to the cliffs.

What the trail asks of you

The riding is sustained intermediate dirt singletrack — no extended climbs, no committed drops, a few short rocky pinches. The trail's name describes the shape: the singletrack winds in and out of low desert drainages with sustained S-curves rather than long straights. Riders who like flow trails will find Sidewinder satisfies; riders looking for tech will be bored.

Where Sidewinder sits in the 435

Sidewinder is the connective tissue of the Sheep Bridge area, and the Sheep Bridge area is the geographic center of the Hurricane / Virgin trail network. Without trails like Sidewinder linking the headline rides, the area would feel like a set of separate destinations; with them, it functions as one continuous trail network with thirty-plus named pieces.
