The Red Mountain Foothills are the residential ground at the base of Red Mountain on the west side of Ivins. The mountain itself is a dark volcanic ridge that walls the basin opposite the red Navajo sandstone of Snow Canyon — the basin between the two is where the town of Ivins sits, and the foothills on the western side hold residential parcels and the Red Mountain Resort.

A residential layer at the base of a volcanic ridge

The foothills run along the west edge of Ivins from north to south, with residential parcels stepped against the slope. The terrain is rougher than the basin floor, with views east across to the Navajo sandstone walls of Snow Canyon. Construction is mixed — single-family custom homes on the upper bench, patio-home and townhome product on the lower flats. The Red Mountain Resort, a destination wellness and fitness lodge, sits on the foothills and has been one of the area's working hospitality operations since the early 1990s.

Red Mountain Resort

Red Mountain Resort is a destination wellness lodge — fitness programming, hiking, yoga, spa services, and a full-board dining program — that runs on the foothills west of Ivins. The resort has been operating since the early 1990s and is one of the longer-running destination-wellness properties in southern Utah, drawing repeat guests from across the country for week-long fitness packages. The resort sits on the lower bench with hiking-trail access onto Red Mountain itself.

What the area is for

The Red Mountain Foothills are the residential and hospitality bench on the west side of the Ivins basin. The geography defines the area more than any specific master-plan does — the volcanic ridge is the dominant visual feature, the wellness resort is the working commercial tenant, and the residential parcels are arrayed across the terrain. It is one of the few Ivins neighborhoods where the working hospitality economy and the residential bench share the same foothill slope.
