Dr. Marcus L. Peterson, MD, FACS is a board-certified plastic surgeon who completed his medical training at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in Bethesda — the military medical school — followed by a five-year general surgery residency and a three-year plastic surgery residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, plus hand surgery training at the Kleinert Institute in Louisville and burn trauma training at Brook Army Medical Center. He retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force after serving as Chief of Plastic Surgery and Surgical Services at Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital in Las Vegas.
He moved to St. George in 2004 and has been operating the Center for Advanced Plastic Surgery as a fully independent private practice since. The practice runs its own AAAHC-accredited surgery center — the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities credential requires external review of surgical protocols, equipment, staffing, and outcomes — which allows him to perform the full range of plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures on-site without hospital scheduling.
The scope covers both reconstructive and cosmetic surgery: breast procedures, body contouring, facial surgery, hand reconstruction, and skin cancer reconstruction. The practice office is at 676 S Bluff Street. Nevada patients are accommodated through his dual Utah and Nevada licensure.
